He started off by discussing how pure doctrine was like a narrow, less traveled path, that went through a thick forest of erroneous teachings. It is easy to get lost. Then he states that false doctrine is poison to the soul, like arsenic mixed in the drink at a part. Also, he brings up how there is a general tendency among young people to value the style of an author, instead of regarding the actual matter, and this is a dangerous tendency. Then he goes into law and gospel. If there was only law, that wouldn’t be possible. If there was only gospel, it’s just pretty much false comfort. He also talks about the commandments, and how no one (except Christ) followed them all. He also cites a lot of Luther’s writings.
