Walther began by explaining that, yes, the people there had knowledge of all the doctrines, however, they didn’t know how to apply them. The first and second most important doctrines where the doctrine of justification and how Law and gospel are to be divided. The distinction between law and gospel was the main subject for rest of the lecture. He mentions that the Bible is riddled with contradictions. However, law and gospel do not contradict each other; there are no contradictions in scripture. Then he continued to further explain this.
